Hello everyone,
On August 21st, my Dad, Trevor, had to have unexpected Open Heart surgery where they did 5 bypass grafts. Once surgery was complete, there was some difficulty restarting his Heart( Several attempts) until it began to function as required. this caused some trauma to his heart and the rest of his body and organs. 3 days later he suffered a blood clot just above the graft on the right side, and was taken back into surgery for stents to open the artery to the heart which caused several life threatening complications.
The right side of the heart pumps the deoxygenated blood to the lungs, and with the right side failing, there were complications to his lungs and kidneys and they began to fail. The medical staff and doctors, along with My sister and I were at his bedside in the ICU every day for almost 3 weeks while he was on life support. As his lungs slowly began to recover, his kidneys were still failing as they had him on 12 different medications to keep him sedated and stable until he was able to come off the ventilator and start breathing on his own. Unfortunately his kidneys have not recovered and Dad has to do Hemodialysis 3 days a week to stay alive. The surgery and all the rehab cost over $800K and climbing.
Dad needs some alternative medications and supplements and rehab in order to help the kidneys regain function and recover, however that portion is NOT covered by Medical insurance. We are waiting to get on the Transplant list but that could take years! if you know this amazing man who we are fortunate to call Dad, if you've ever met him or worked with him or talked to him you'll know and understand what an amazing caring and compassionate person he is. He is the kind of guy who will give you the shirt off his own back and smile while doing it. Dad is the true definition of a gentleman and many of our friends even call him dad. He never asks for help, he just goes on his way trying to help others when and where they need it. Now, unfortunately, he does need some help.
We understand that times are challenging, and any assistance will be greatly appreciated. All donations will go to fund his recovery and help improve the quality of life for the precious time he has left. Every day counts. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and may God bless each and every one of you.
