Help Support Brandon!

Donation protected
Friends, friends of friends & strangers,

Every time I read or donate to a GoFundMe, I always count my blessings that I’ve never had reason to create one myself. But I do now.

My dear friend and cousin, Brandon Breckenridge, was hit by a car Saturday night on 169 near the Broadway (Buck O’Neil) Bridge as he was walking home. The driver did not stop. Brandon lay on the side of the road for over an hour trying to wave someone down - his leg mangled, bleeding out, cold and in shock - as car after car drove right past him. No one stopped. Thankfully someone did finally call 911, and the paramedics were able to get to him before we lost him.

Brandon is going to be okay and words cannot express how grateful we are for that, but there’s a chance he’s going to lose his leg. This is a tough reality to have to face. He is currently recovering from the first of what will be many surgeries, and the next few days will be crucial in terms of learning what the road to recovery is going to look like for Brandon. Either way, he is facing multiple surgeries and this will undoubtedly to be a long, painful journey.

This guy I’m lucky enough to get to call my cousin is quite possibly the most lovable, kindest, caring (and hilarious) human being on the planet. He is all the good things. He would do anything for anyone - acts of kindness are his jam. If you know him, you already know this. But let me tell you something else about Brandon - he is a fighter and a survivor too. We already know this as well. When he was a baby, he suffered first first degree burns on the same legs in a freak hot water accident in the bathtub. He rallied through months in the burn unit of a children’s hospital, enduring countless surgeries and painful skin grafts. And he will rally through this too. But he’s going to need all the help and support he can get.

If you’re able to help, please:

1.  Pray (or send good vibes...whatever you do) for my cousin and for my family...especially his parents. It doesn’t matter how old your ‘baby’ is, it’s never easy to see your child hurting. Also pray for clarity and guidance for the surgeons & team of specialists who are working to to try to salvage his leg.
2.  Share this post. We need to find who did this and someone knows something, someone saw something.  Help us get the word out there. If you saw something, please let us know and contact the KCPD.
3.  Donate. Brandon is unable to work for the foreseeable future and he’s facing some steep medical bills. He’s going to need all the financial help he can get. Any little bit will help.

Thank you and God bless you all,
