In 2015, Charlie was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome and FSGS, a rare kidney disorder for which there is no cure. After numerous treatments, trials, medication plans, hospital stays, and surgeries, including having one kidney removed, she has failed to achieve remission and reached end-stage kidney failure in 2018. As a result of her condition, she has little to no appetite and requires a feeding tube to maintain a healthy weight. She began dialysis in August, traveling to Ann Arbor three days a week for the three-hour-long procedure.
Through all of this, Charlie has shown courage and resiliency, and refuses to let her condition or circumstances define her. In May, her father will donate a kidney for transplant, in the hopes of putting Charlie’s disorder in remission and returning her to a more typical childhood.
We have created this GoFundMe page to help the Buckley's offset costs so they can focus on the health and well-being of their family and maintain some normalcy. Both Nick and Alexis have made sacrifices with their careers to be there for Charlie and her brother, Oliver. Alexis has taken a leave of absence from her teaching job, as Charlie needs 24-hour care.
Thank you for your continued support for this family as a member of team Charlie’s Angels!
