Each year our biggest challenge is to raise the necessary funds to meet our operating budget. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our challenge to raise funds will be extra-difficult. Our community has been hard hit by the virus and the resulting economic downturn. Our parents are concerned because their children want to participate in the fall – but some fear they will not be able meet the $225 registration fee requirement. The registration fee covers items such as uniforms, equipment, referees, facility rental, and insurance for our approximately 165 youth athletes. It is our Association’s hope that every child who wants to participate gets the opportunity regardless of financial situation. We don’t want to turn a child away due to a family’s inability to pay.
Cameron Duke, Edgewater High School Head Football Coach, is a member of our Board. Coach Duke teaches that football is like life - it requires perseverance, hard work, sacrifice, and dedication. The important thing about football - is that it is not just about football.
Without help from individuals and corporations our children will go without an after school activity in the fall. That means these children will have been without a structured, organized and mentored program since before March. Truly that is heartbreaking. Please help.
