My name is Evelyn, mother of Cheinelle Allen. I am creating this GoFundMe page on Cheinelle's behalf to give her a chance at recovery. In 2004, Cheinelle was involved in a car accident which left her with complications to her spinal cord, resulting in paraplegia. She endured several rehabilitation programs on her journey to walk again. Despite setbacks she stayed strong and sought after every affordable available option in attempt to regain a normal life. Cheinelle gave birth to her only son, Jamil who is currently 10 yrs old.
In March of 2016, Cheinelle began to notice a change in her body. She started to experience tingling in her fingers, which could have led to quadriplegia. Her doctor recommended a procedure to correct the issue and possibly speed up her current rehabilitation. Cheinelle underwent the procedure with hopes of this being the final setback.
After the surgery on April 28th, she suffered a devastating form of stroke 'subarachnoid hemorrhage'. The hemorrhage ultimately required the procedure of a craniotomy which put her into a medically induced coma. Cheinelle went through recovery in ICU, and eventually transferred to an acute facility.
After careful decision and training we made the transition to bring Cheinelle home where she could receive more care, love and attention. Our family renovated the living room to care for all of Cheinelle's medical needs. My parents currently take care of her full-time with the help of friends and family. Cheinelle is slowly healing everyday with the help of God. She responds to our voices, music and she loves to smile.
I created this page to ask for your support on Cheinelle's journey. We are looking to add-on to her current rehabilitation and life experience with the purchase of a multi purpose stretcher chair. This chair will allow her the ability to move around and go outdoors which will continue to aid the rehabilitation growth.
