My name is Brenton Barker, and I am a co-owner and CEO of Food & Dairy Co. On the 28th of July 2021, I will be attempting to swim the English Channel.

This 34km challenge in near-freezing water I hope to complete in around 18 hours. It is regarded as one of the most demanding open water swims in the world - the Everest of long-distance swims.

The commitment required and the 'never give up' attitude I will need for these 18 hours is nothing compared to what the Pittorino family face every day.

Archer was like every other Spiderman admiring 6-year-old boy when he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukaemia over a year ago.

He has endured 13 months of intense chemotherapy, cranial radiation, total body radiation, total body irradiation, and a full bone marrow transplant.
In addition to the horrific side effects these treatments have caused, Archer has been bed-bound in hospital and forbidden to enjoy the everyday activities that a 7-year-old boy loves.

The impact of all medical commitments over the past 12 months has heavily burdened Archer's parents Dianne and Michael. They are living every parent's worst nightmare.

Dianne juggles her time between the hospital and their three other sons at home. Whilst Michael recovered from the bone marrow transplant that was required for Archer's treatment. The commitment to provide 24-hour care for Archer has left the Pittorino's in a financially crippling situation.

Sadly in early June Archer's cancer returned more aggressively, and he is now awaiting word on whether he will require another bone marrow transplant.

Records show that nine out of ten English Channel attempts fail. I realise that this will test me both physically and mentally but knowing I am doing this to help Archer and his family will keep me motivated to push my body to its limit.

Please know that all funds raised via GoFundMe will go directly to the Pittorino family.

Although I'll be the only one in the water, I will be drawing on the tremendous support I have received from friends, family, swim coaches and the local community to keep me going through until I exit the water somewhere on the French coastline.

I will post on this site a link for all supporters to track my attempt live.

I would like to make a special mention of my two major sponsors, Alternative Dairy Co and Parmalat.
