A Long Journey to Recovery

On February 28, 2012 as I was leaving work, I was hit head on by a six-time convicted drunk driver.  He completely crushed my car and landed on top of the driver behind me.  I suffered fractures to every part of my body along with multiple life-threatening internal injuries; it took physicians six multiple-site operations to save my life. I spent three months in a trauma hospital and nursing facility. It was only the skill and dedication of many physicians, nurses, aides, and physical therapists that I survived.

My life as I knew it was taken from me forever; the life I share with my fiancee` has been inextricably altered and my livelihood gone.  It is only my faith that has kept me determined to recover and reclaim my life....a journey that will take two to three years of relearning how to walk and care for myself.

Don't just stop your friends from driving drunk ~ prevent or report anyone you see drinking and attempting to operate a motor vehicle.  This habitual DUI offender was able to continue to wreck havoc because FOUR STATES plead him down to minor fines or gave him short sentences that were set aside for probation.  LOBBY your representatives for stricter laws in your state for dealing with DUI offenders.
