Trip to Spain

My name is Daniela Garcia and I am a freshman at the Jackson Hole Community School. I am raising money to help with the cost to travel to Spain for 10 days this summer with a program called ACIS. I have dreamed about going on a trip like this ever since I could remember. When I heard of this opportunity, I began working with dogs, and have raised $570 over the past few weeks towards my trip (the cost of the trip is roughly $5,300). I have recently had to stop working with kids as much as I have in the past because this time was taking away from valuable study time. Doing well in school is very important to me. Having to leave these kids has left me feeling conflicted because I enjoy listening to their days and getting to learn new things along with them.


The reality of all of this is that the additional expense is very overwhelming to me and my family. My mom is doing everything she can to help me with some of the expenses, but it is just as overwhelming for her as well because she is a single parent and works 40+ hours a week just to pay for my tuition at the Community School and for our daily spendings.


I have been in spanish classes since I was in 1st grade because both of my parents are immigrants from Bogotá, Colombia, and ever since I was little, I have valued  growing up being aware of the Spanish language and all the different cultures that come along with it. An opportunity like this would help me broaden my understanding and increase my awareness of this Spanish-European culture. Even more, it’s always been a dream of mine to travel all over the world and meet new people with polar opposite experiences than me, and a trip like this would bring me one step closer to fulfilling this dream. Due to financial restrictions, a trip overseas with my mom is not attainable, at the moment.


I know this will be a life changing experience, and I am very blessed to have this opportunity. I truly appreciate anything that you can help me with. Ultimately, I know that my future rests in the hands of my Heavenly Father, and if it is in His plan -- He will make a way… and with the help of all people who care about me and my mom, we will make this happen!
