Bring Brianna Home

Donation protected
On Christmas Eve, a good friend and co-worker Brianna Palmer Ellis was involved in a horrible vehicular accident.  She was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where she underwent emergency surgery in order to stabilize her spine.  While not life threatening, her injuries are numerous with the most concerning being the significant injury to her spinal cord.  Brianna is currently unable to walk and, at least in the short to medium term, she will be confined to a wheelchair.

The good news is that the journey to recovery has started and although the final destination is unknown at this time, Brianna and her husband Cody are facing the challenge head-on. She is about start intensive physical therapy with the initial goal of being allowed to go home within the next month.

Brianna’s determination during this first week has already been inspiring; her nurses remarked they had never witnessed a patient with spinal cord injuries wheel themselves out of the ICU as she did! Cody has shown amazing resolve and has not left her side. The two of them have demonstrated, and continue to demonstrate everything that a marriage should be; strength, loyalty, courage, resolve, love and commitment.

However, as strong as they both are individually and collectively, they do need a lot of support. Just within the next month, to allow for Brianna to return home, their home will need to be modified to ADA compliant (including installing a wheel chair ramp), her car will need to be converted to allow her to drive it, and they will need a wheel chair that will allow her to move around their five acres and feed their animals. And that’s just in the next month!

And that’s where we all come in; we are obviously hoping for any and all financial support you can give, but also looking for additional ways to help, including volunteers to help with home improvements, picking up and delivering supplies and whatever else it takes to get their home ready.

All donations of every kind are welcome and appreciated.   Anything raised above and beyond what they will need will be used to help others who are experiencing similar trauma.

Let's help rebuild their new life together!
