Do it for Dave

A little over a month ago, Dave (pops), was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. He's been in and out of the hospital since that time, and a recent elevated platelet level landed him back in this weekend--we're not sure how long he'll be there,  just taking it as the doctors call it. Fortunately, the meds he's on have helped a great deal, but they are ridiculously expensive and anyone who knows Dave knows he's a trooper and would never ask for help. Even when he needs it. Meanwhile, he hasn't been able to work and the costs of everyday living have been piling up. The goal should help to cover rent for the time he's been out of work, while helping to pay for meds. 
My sister and I chatted about doing this--we're usually first to contribuite to this type of thing, last to ask for it, but as John and Paul put it right, "Oh I get by with a little help from my friends".
