Rex’s Surgery

On July 20th we found this sweet boy wondering the streets. Little did we know, he’d been through his fair share of not so fun experiences. After tracking down the owners, Rex refused to go inside. They told us they no longer wanted him, so we quickly put him back in the car knowing he probably shouldn’t be in that house anyway, and welcomed him into our family.  According to shelter records, he’d been in and out of shelters and had back leg issues. After living with us for a few weeks, he started limping on his front leg so we took him to get X-rays. We found out he has an incongruity with his ulna and radius due to premature growth plates which can be caused by trauma or simply closing too soon. Unfortunately, we think trauma was the cause because of his occasional back hip pain and broken tail. To correct this, Rex will need surgery sooner than later to prevent future pain and arthritis. We absolutely love having him in our family and enjoy seeing his happiness here, but this is a cost we didn’t expect to incur. Because of how new he is here and his pre-existing conditions, we were unable to get pet insurance quick enough. This is something new for us so if you are able and willing to donate, anything is greatly appreciated, and we know Rex especially appreciates it! We just want him to live his best life and if this is what he needs to do that, then we’ll do it!
