Tommy's Medical Fund

Donation protected
On September 15th,  Tommy went to the doctor with severe stomach pains and what he thought may be a hernia.   A CAT scan showed a large abscess that required immediate surgery.    During surgery, it was discovered Tommy had a staph infection that went all the way to the bone.   The abscess was successfully removed, but the staph infection spread in to the bone.     A PICC line, antibiotics, bed rest, frequent home nurse visits and weekly trips to the wound clinic would be required to heal.
Almost 8 weeks post-surgery, Tommy's infection was not improving.   New, more aggressive, IV antibiotics were prescribed.  If the new antibiotics didn't work immediately,  another surgery would be scheduled to physically remove part, if not all, of the infected bone....a necessity to save his life.   Thankfully,  doctors have seen improvement on the new meds,  but Tommy still has a long road to recovery.
Tommy has been unable to work since September.   The doctors have told him due to the location and severity of his wound, he cannot sit in his wheelchair for extended periods of time.   The doctors anticipate Tommy will not be able to return to work until October of 2018.
Tommy's IV antibiotics and supply costs are astronomical;  all paid out of pocket weekly.  The hospital bills, home nursing care visits and wound care clinic bills are piling up.   Tommy does have Medicare, but only limited coverage.  He has been aggressive working with different advocates to get the coverage he deserves....but with no luck.
Tommy is one of the most inspiring,  positive and  selfless people you will ever meet.   He just got engaged last year and has been planning his future with Lindsey.  To see him go through the physical and financial pain of the last few months has been devastating.
Our family is asking for your help, thoughts and prayers.   Any size donation is truly appreciated.
For those of you who do not know me, I am Tommy's sister, Erica.  I live in Madison, WI and have been managing Tommy's medical payments during this time.   The funds raised will go first to the most critical out-of pocket expense; on-going IV antibiotics and supplies.   Next, at-home nursing care and wound treatment payments.   Any additional funds will be used to start paying his hospital stay expenses.   Again, we thank you for your continued support!
