Szabo family assistance fund

Don and Heather Szabo have been together since 2000 and married in 2003. They have 2 beautiful daughters, age 8 and 10, that are both amazing and both miracles.

Heather has had breast cancer since 2009 and stage-4 breast cancer since 2011. She is a very brave and strong woman and she is doing all she can with research, eating organic, years of chemotherapy, radiation, tests, pills and meds, all while managing to keep a positive attitude throughout the entire time.

She is a great wife and mother to her family and has always been a great person. She has given to everybody that she can. She has a close knit group of friends that she has been friends with for 20-30+ years. For Heather, being a mother and wife are the two things she loves most about life. She just wants to see her daughters grow up and enjoy the simple things that most people get to   take for granted.

She has been through many things with cancer, including now being in her second round of chemotherapy, two spinal taps that luckily showed up negative in the spinal fluid. Single brain spot treatment and full brain radiation for 5 weeks recently when it came back in the brain. She now has cancer in her liver which is causing ascites, this causes stomach bloating where they drain more than a gallon of fluid that builds up in her stomach area weekly. The cancer in her liver is causing her to become yellow in the skin and eyes and she looks to be very pregnant although this time it is not a baby. The hospital is trying a different chemo but her body is having a hard time being strong enough to have the chemotherapy done.
Don has been taking care of her as best as he can, dealing with this terrible disease right by her side for years. They have tried to enjoy life and family as best they can for many years but cancer keeps taking away more and more from her health. In recent months they could still take walks and do semi normal easy things that families do together. Recently she has been in the hospital for a week with multiple complications and now she is back at home where Don is caring for her daily. Taking care of basic things that we take for granted, as well as IV procedures and whatever else is needed.

Between medical bills, Don's loss of work, and needing to be there for Heather, finances have been upside down for awhile. It seems that everything may be coming to an end in the near future, including the place that they call home. Don must take care of the bills and continue to take care of Heather in every way possible at home, hospital stays, doctors visits, daily treatments, and whatever can be done to fight this horrible disease. He also needs to do what is needed to take care of their two daughters and provide for them on every level possible, not just now, but for many years to come.

Please keep Heather, Don and thier family in your thoughts and prayers. Any help is appreciated to ease the pain and help them get through this as best as possible.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to help.
