“As many of you know, while they were out for dinner with family, Hermitage’s Frank and Barb Szabo experienced a devastating fire to their home on the evening of December 23, 2017. Not only did they lose their home and much of their life long possessions, but tragically the lives of their four legged family members- Zoey and their Grand dog, Harlee- were lost as well.
Having raised three (now adult) children Jamie, Teresa and David in the community, their home has always been a welcoming place for many over the years. One would be a stranger to the family just once, as one would be considered a friend after that first meeting. I can attest to this as many friends of the family braved the cold that evening to comfort and help the Szabo family. Additionally, many of the first responders knew the family members on a first name basis. On that note, a huge thanks of gratitude goes out to all the first responders not only from Hermitage but from the surrounding communities as well for their dedicated service to the communities at large.
Over the years Frank, Barb, Jamie, Teresa and David have contributed positively to the community by organizing or participating in fundraisers for various individuals or causes. Frank and Barb are hardworking people like you and me and would never ask for help but they sure could use it. Although Frank and Barb have insurance, it may not cover everything. Since there has been an overwhelming response of love and requests of support, I have created a GoFundMe site for those who wish to make any financial contributions great or small at this time of need.
