Dear friends, family, and compassionate community members,
At this difficult time, Mikhel is reaching out to those who know and care about her to ask for support as she faces a critical crossroads in her health journey. On October 26, 2024, Mikhel sustained her second concussion in just three years—the sixth concussion of her life. The compounded effects of these brain injuries, combined with ongoing health struggles over the past few years, have left her in a state of profound vulnerability.
For most of Mikhel’s life, she has faced significant health challenges, one of the most persistent being severe insomnia. This chronic sleep deprivation has greatly impacted her ability to recover and heal, particularly after brain injuries. The lasting effects of multiple concussions, including the four she experienced as a child between the ages of 5 and 14, are believed to have played a key role in her ongoing battle with sleep issues and have made recovery from each concussion even more difficult.
As of now, Mikhel has no financial stability. With only $3,000 in savings and the inability to work for over a month due to her current condition, she is in urgent need of support. Her symptoms are severe and persistent, making even basic tasks nearly impossible.
Since sustaining her latest concussion, Mikhel has been struggling with:
- Extreme fatigue and exhaustion from even the simplest tasks
- Physical limitations that prevent normal movement or exercise—only short walks are manageable
- Cognitive difficulties, including memory loss, delayed thinking, and concentration issues
- Chronic headaches and nausea, which are often debilitating
- Light and sound sensitivity, making it hard to function in normal environments
- Blurred vision and eye strain, which intensify with screen use
- Dizziness and disorientation, making it difficult to stay oriented or balanced
The road to recovery from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) is long and uncertain, especially when compounded by previous concussions. Medical professionals indicate that healing could take anywhere from 3 to 12 months, with intensive rehabilitation required for the best chance at recovery. However, the most effective treatments—those that offer the quickest recovery—are extremely expensive, and Mikhel simply does not have the means to cover these costs.
The total amount Mikhel is seeking to begin her healing journey is $48,800. This funding will cover the cost of comprehensive medical treatments, intensive rehabilitation protocols, and daily home therapies, which are critical to her recovery. These treatments will include a combination of specialized therapies aimed at repairing neural pathways, restoring brain function, and improving cognitive and physical health. Additionally, the funds will help cover living expenses during her recovery period, as Mikhel is currently unable to work.
As soon as the funding support is received, Mikhel will begin treatment plans, daily home therapies, and necessary protocols to start her healing process.
Mikhel’s road to recovery will take time, but with your generosity and support, she will have the resources she needs to heal and regain her health. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference in her journey back to vitality.
Thank you for considering a donation, and for being part of Mikhel’s healing process.
With deep gratitude,
Mikhel and her Support Team
