Syd's Mitzvah Project

Dear Friends : Sydney's bat mitzvah is fast approaching and besides the excitement of the "party" another exciting part of it is that her bat mitzvah service will be done in Israel.
To us having it in Israel is even more super special because as some of you know, my parents who were both born in holocaust DP camps , went to Israel as babies and grew up there. We still have so much family living there and they happily will be sharing in Syd's bat mitzvah service and celebration in Jerusalem.
In particular is my father's sister Edna and her daughter , my cousin Keren. And this is where Syd's personal mitzvah project comes in. Tragically my cousin Dr. Keren Embar passed away. Keren was a passionate research ecologist scientist researching a particular species for the Ben -Gurion University. In 2014 while in Finland during her research with them , she was exposed to a deadly "hanta " type virus called the Puulmara virus-she became extremely sick and sadly at only 36 years of age , she passed away.
Keren was always extremely passionate about animals and nature. So in her memory my Aunt Edna with the participation of the mayor and the town of Rosh HaAyin in Israel , are in the process of creating a beautiful "living village" in her honor. They already do events and also have an educational scholarship available in her honor . This will be a special and also educational place where all can come to visit to enjoy animals and nature in this ancient picturesque town. So for Syd's very personal mitzvah project we would appreciate any donation you wish to make, in honor of Syd's Bat Mitzvah to help create this beautiful and special place , that you all as well can come to visit hopefully in the near future.
