HOOCH

Donation protected

HELLO ALL!

I can’t believe I’ve already hit my target! I am so overwhelmed with your kindness, thank you so so much. Any extra donations made will be put away into my production fund for future investment in this project, for example space hire, cast, props etc. You are all fabulous! X

Soph here, A.K.A Stockports newest up and coming rapper - Chel-Z.

I am here kindly asking for any donations big or small to help me raise a bit of money to purchase some filming equipment. For those of you who have seen HOOCH, you'll know it's filmed very simply on my trusting iPhone 7 - so far she's been great and i don't have a bad word to say about her however, as i start planning episode 3,  I feel the production value will benefit and increase massively from a bit of investment.

So, what is Hooch?

I’m glad you asked. Hooch is a one-woman comedy sketch about 16-year-old Chelsea-Leigh. Set in early 2008 during the prime time of Shag Bands, LG Cookies and unnecessary neon print. Hooch is set in the outskirts of Greater Manchester. A filming crew follow Chelsea around her local area to get a raw taste of true council estate life. She feels excited to be on the telly and wants to make sure she is showcasing herself and her home in the best possible light, this of course, doesn’t always go to plan when she is faced with the unpredictable realities of her surroundings.

Why should I donate?

I thought you'd never ask!  I am so invested and confident that this project will not only be successful, but that there is a gap in the industry for this writing to fill. Telling working class stories is so integral to our society, and what better way to explore this than through comedy. Chelsea-Leigh represents so many people from underprivileged backgrounds. I can relate to the story I am telling, most of which will be based on real life experiences from either myself or the people around me. There is so much stigma attached to being working class and from a council estate. Programmes such as ‘Benefits Britain’ brand places like Stockport, with a low-class label. I want to reclaim and proudly own that label. I don’t want to paint a glossy idealistic image of council estate life, as this would obviously be false. However, I want to create Hooch so people can laugh with us, as oppose to at us. This will reach a wide audience as half of them will be able to relate to it, like a flashback of their youth. The other half will learn from it, and hopefully gain a wider understanding of a working-class community through a comedic lens. It may be worth noting that the below equipment will also be beneficial for when I film my spoken word pieces!

What will you be buying?

McDonalds.

JOKE! Here is the exact list and price of what I would like to purchase:

RODE Microphone NT - USB mini - £87.95

RODE Smartlav+ Lavalier Microphone for Smartphone - £45.00

Smartphone Video Rig kit PULUZ - £43.99

This leaves £23.06 which I would use to purchase any props needed for the upcoming episodes! (photos will of course follow)

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read this, I understand times are tough with regards to money, so support in any form is greatly appreciated such as; follow, like and sharing HOOCH! Tell your work colleagues or your grandma to check it out! Spread the word!

Lots of love,

Soph xxx
