Your contribution will help support our Nationwide Community Support Line. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/65348839_165281978538147_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="65348839_165281978538147_r.jpeg" /> The Community Support Line (CSL) is a centralized toll-free hotline that can be accessed by anyone in North America for assistance with safety planning, networking and accessing resources. We receive more than 200 calls per week seeking assistance with a wide variety of issues from crisis support around an assault or arrest, to sex positive resources for medical and mental health resources to housing and transportation requests. We created the Chat for Support feature on our website in March of 2020. We are the only national SW-staffed resource provider of this type. From Our Clients:  "I called the Community Support Line when I needed help and had no other support system. The staff not only offered me comfort, but they also paid for the internet so I could resume college online from a homeless shelter. This support is a massive reason why I am where I am today; in law school, winning my Title IX case, and providing the stable life that my children deserve." "[A CSL volunteer] helped me get a job when I got out of prison and no one would hire me. Now I own my own furniture store and I couldn't have done it without them." "The CSL helped me get into a sober house after I was released from jail.  They would have never taken me without their recommendation!" "I work at the county jail and [CSL volunteers/staff] regularly bring over GED study guides and self-help books to donate to our prisoners. They are always available to them once they get out." "[A CSL volunteer] helped me get my birth certificate and driver's license back after it had been stolen by my traffickers." "[A SCL staff person] helped connect me to a lawyer that is helping me get my conviction expunged so that my criminal record is clear. I will finally be able to rent my own apartment and quit living in a motel." The CSL was a lifesaver during Covid!  I was locked inside with my abusive ex and I would have never made it if they hadn’t helped." "I got beat up by a client and they helped me Get the medical attention that I needed." "I was released from jail in Nevada and didn’t even have any shoes!  The CSL helped me get back home to San Diego.  They are ALWAYS there and I’m so grateful!" "[A CSL volunteer] took me to a dentist and helped me get all of my teeth fixed after my boyfriend beat me up. She drove me to every appointment and waited with me over the course of a year." The Community Support Line is a project of SWOP Behind Bars, a national grassroots social justice network dedicated to the fundamental human rights of survivors, and their communities with a focus on those currently incarcerated or seeking re-entry. SBB centers the voices of survivors as we work to end violence and stigma by providing resources, community-building projects, educational programs, and advocacy.
