MATT WRIGHT'S Medical Expenses

Hi Everyone.  As you all know by now, my husband, Matthew, has throat cancer of the vocal chords.  The update from our appointment at UPenn on 6/15 is like this.  He will be having a 7 hour surgery on July 7th, and will have a total larygectomy which will result with him having a stoma as well.  A total larygectomy is removing the cancer, from the vocal chords as well as part of the esophagus.  The airway will be moved to exit through the hole in his throat.  They call that a stoma.  A stoma is a breathing hole that stays open for the rest of your life.  As most of you know, my husband is finding all of this overwhelming, as he is person who lives to be outside whether working, doing yard work or just playing with the grandchildren.  He will now be forced to stay inside for a quite a while until he is fully healed.  He will also never be able to work again leaving me to run the house where he was always the breadwinner.  This is not easy, but i have been managing with the help of my boss and co-workers.  The medical expenses will be large, as the Doctor is out of network.  He will also need a prostetic to speak.  We chose this Doctor because he it the best at his field in saving people from throat cancer.  There will be no chemo or radiation at this point, as there is nothing, other than surgery, that would help.  After the surgery his rate of survival is 95% The cancer needs to be removed.  He will get to live.  Since I only have one income, i am looking for some help with out of pocket costs.  They require 20% of all visits and surgeries.  The prostetic for him to speak, is not covered at all.  It is what it is. Even the food that he eats everyday (liquid nutrition) is not covered and is coming out of my pocket. I would appreciate your help.  Your prayers have all worked to get my husband this far, now we need to get him a little further.  With all of you praying i know they will be answered.  You have to believe.    Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  XOXO The Wrights
