Swimming for Jody

We are at it again! Some fundraising.

 

Jody is a very quirky, funny and special girl. We’ve known for some time that she sees the world differently from us “neuro-typical” people.

Sometimes I wish I could be more like her. I admire her honesty in life (those of you who know her well, will know exactly what I mean !)

 

In Guernsey at the moment, there are no autistic assessments happening. I think there haven’t for a couple of years maybe... And given the current COVID climate- it’s unlikely that these assessments will be taking place any time soon.

 

There are many children (and adults) on the waiting list to be assessed...

 

Jody has fantastic support. She’s in a brilliant school which meets her needs! She gets great opportunities through autism Guernsey with various social experiences and also through the sailing trust who provide her with sailing lessons every week. These all help to build her confidence.

 

She’s 11 years old now... a pre-teen!!

We feel a diagnosis for her, would be psychologically beneficial as she grows and develops through her teenage years. She can learn to accept why she views the world in different ways to lots of her family and her peers.

 

We’d love to ask you for some help! The cost of a private assessment in Guernsey is £2000.

We’re going to swim ( a lot ) at the beginning of December (date and venue TBC) ... and you may wish to sponsor us or even join us (if so- drop me a text) And help a great cause. If the goal Is exceeded .... I plan to donate the extra money to the Autism Guernsey charity. They’ve been a fantastic support.
