Moldova and her Children are in danger
Specialy the ones in the rural area.
Over 30% live below the poverty line
One in five children has one or both biological parents working abroad, with the middle class being the most affected. Children left behind end up being cared for by their grandparents, extended family members or, in some cases, live on their own.
Children are exposed to high levels of alcohol and drug abuse, as well as domestic violence and harsh discipline.
They are in danger from traffickers, unhealthy living where they are prone to commit more crimes, violence and in worse cases they commit suicide.
My name is Ion Lazarenco Tiron,
This September I swam Catalina Channel in USA (22 miles) in 12hrs 01min and Molokai Channel in Hawaii (27 miles) in 18hrs 11mins to raise awarnes and offer solutions.
All the funds raised will be used to provide basic sports facilities for disadvantaged kids to give them a healthy channel for their energies to help keep them out of harms way and beyond the reach of traffickers. This spring we launched the first facility in Braviceni, Orhei. But I want to continue with this work so children could kick the ball instead of kicking dust.
I wholeheartedly endorse and encourage everyone who can afford to contribute to this cause to please do so in order that I could continue to make a positive contribution to the lives of some of the most marginalised children in Moldova... with the provision of adequate sports facilities in villages currently lacking them around Moldova we can ensure these children can improve the quality of their lives and focus their energies on positive outcomes and keep them from the clutches of human traffickers and drug dealers. We can give them hope and inspiration!
I promise not to disappoint you. I promise to do all in my power so that this campaign will enable as many children as possible from rural Moldova to choose sports, not the streets, so they have access to sports and a healthy lifestyle. I pledge to become the voice of the children in rural Moldova that need our support and guidance.
They are my inspiration, they were my motivation for swimming the Nistru river, the first marathon in Moldova and Europe that was 240 km in 8 days.
It is them I talked to and, when asking them about what they do on their free time, I found that many of them don’t have a specific goal and do nothing.
They are the ones that are making me dream to build more facilities like this. With your help we can build sport grounds in more villages and we will be able to grow CUPA Verde (CuragiousUnitedPowerfulAgile), the first network of football teams in rural Moldova.
If we can conquer such difficult channels we can do anything, together we can become their champions.
Let us be better, let us become role models for the next generatiion.
