The “pitiful and incomprehensible demoralization” that results from Substance Use Disorder continues to devastate the lives of an ever-increasing proportion of our population.

Over the last 3 years, I have been able to raise nearly $10,000 for The Herren Project from fundraisers I conducted through my open water swimming pursuits.  One of the greatest rewards for my efforts was realized when I attended a (virtual) mutual support meeting, as is my habit, and was encouraged to hear another individual on that meeting share that they were already experiencing some of the rewards of Recovery, thanks to a Treatment Scholarship received from The Herren Project.

One could say that I was directly witnessing the benefits provided by those fundraising efforts during this meeting. This as an instant affirmation for each of the nearly 2,000 miles I have trained over the past 3 years, and for every one of the nearly $10,000 raised from each and every individual who opened their wallets.

Now more than ever, I am inspired to keep up the fight. This coming September, I’m planning my 2nd attempt to swim more than 20 miles across the Catalina Channel and I plan on several other notable swims along the way. My goal for 2022 is to raise $20,000 for The Herren Project. I am asking for your support in preparing for and facilitating this endeavor. Such expeditions require a large amount of resources. As I prepare, I am also helping others discover the benefits that a swim program can have for their ongoing mental well-being. I am coaching individuals in Recovery and also helping those in early Recovery to access swim facilities and training through my Swim Strait program.

Be part of Team iSwim4. Corporate sponsorships can receive recognition through exposure during the event. Individual supporters have the opportunity to become part of the on-board support crew.
