Swihart Family Rent Assistance

Dear Friends and Family,

I’m not one who likes to ask for help as it makes me feel uncomfortable. But our family is facing a crisis. It is with a humble heart that I am writing to ask for your help.

Just before Thanksgiving, my husband Lynn began experiencing swelling and discomfort in his right knee.  This condition continued to worsen, causing him to have to stop working on December 9 of 2015.   After several doctor visits, tests and rest his condition is not improving.  His doctor finally filed disability paperwork on December 30th.  We are not yet sure (1) when benefits will become available and (2) how much his weekly benefit amount will be.  Because we have gone for a month without Lynn’s income and because the amount disability pays is minimal, this has put our family in a desperate financial position.

Our biggest area of concern is our rent. We pay one of the lower rents that can be found anywhere in the Bay Area ($2,200/month). Our Landlord has been so gracious to us over the years as we have both experienced job losses and inconsistent income due to Lynn working in the construction field.   At this time however, he has communicated to us that he will have to evict us at the end of February if we are not able to pay our rent.  We do not have the income to pay January or February’s rent and we are using my paycheck to cover food and utilities as well as our basic monthly bills. 

The doctor’s prognosis is undetermined as of right now, as Lynn has been  referred to yet another specialist. We pray for answers, but most of all, we seek God’s healing.

I am humbly asking for help to raise $5,000.00, which will cover two months’ rent and give us a little extra towards food.  We are praying and believing Lynn will be healed and will be able to return to work no later than March 1st, if not sooner.
