Hello! My name is Olivia Jones and I would like to share with you, my friends and my family some exciting news about an opportunity I have to serve others. As I have been growing in my faith over the last year, God has been laying on my heart a call to serve. Through a ministry I am involved in, an opportunity came up to serve in an impoverished community in Africa. I feel that God has answered my prayers for direction in my calling.
My team will travel to Nairobi, Kenya March 13th-March 21st 2020, with the organization Life in Abundance. Life in Abundance (LIA) is a ministry partner of CU Church. They work to empower and equip impoverished communities in Africa, Jamaica and Haiti. They work with the local churches, who know the community's needs the best. Their model takes a holistic view, aims to end dependency on outside aid and build sustainable transformation in the community. Alongside LIA, we will participate in home and school visits, encourage others and just witness God's work in Mathare Slum of Nairobi.
I have never been on an mission trip before. As I have grown in my faith, I have also grown in my desire to serve others. I firmly believe that Life in Abundance is doing God's work. I could never imagine poverty of material goods. However, I have experienced spiritual poverty for a long time until this last year. I hope to be able to encourage and be encouraged through the relationships I make on this mission trip.
In order to participate on this journey, I will need to raise $2500. I am assembling a team of supporters to help with my trip expenses and I prayerfully ask if you could partner with me by contributing $20 or whatever you feel led to donate.
In order to make the process easier, I have created a GoFundMe account.
Funds are due by Feburary 16th, 2020. So if you are able to donate by then, I would greatly appreciate it.
