Having a baby at a young age isn’t good news, but it’s not the end of the world! Though the odds are stacked against teen parents and their success rates, not all young parents fall below the status quo. Some of them become even more eager to rise above; knowing that their current situation does not predict their future.
Fashion Designer, Entrepreneur, and speaker Altrichia Cook is a former teen mom that choose success as her only
option. Pregnant at age 17, instead of teen pregnancy becoming a road block for her, she turned it into a stepping stone and chose to DEFY THE ODDS!

The Sweetheart Seminar is an empowerment event for teen-mom students, founded by Altrichia Cook and former teen Mom.

In 2014, Altrichia established this inspirational day in conjunction with the Polk County Schools Teen Parent Program as a way to encourage and motivate student-parents; helping them to discover their love, beauty, confidence and power from within. According to statistics, less than 2% of teen moms will obtain their college degree by age 30. Cook aims to help with improving these statistics thru the Sweetheart Seminar by serving as proof, along with other teen mom success stories that when success as their only option, despite the hardships associated with teen pregnancy.

The purpose of the Sweetheart Seminar is to foster the importance of self love, self awareness  and the importance of furthering their education!

As a dedicated mentor and former teen mom turned success, Cook believes that each component of The Sweetheart Seminar will help the young mothers understand the power they posses which will, in turn, help them become successful and productive women; always choosing to defy the odds.

With major sponsors not being able to commit this year, we are asking for the support of the community and those who were once teen moms, young moms or products of teen moms, to help with the success of the Sweetheart Seminar 2018!
