Sweetery Z Startup

Hello! My name is Zoe Lee.  Iam 14 years old and live in Ames, Iowa. God has given me a  dream  of opening a restaurant someday, but I want to begin following that dream today by starting an in-home bakery called Sweetery Z.

I love food – I love eating it and I love creating with it. I am happiest when I am cooking. It makes me forget a bad day and it helps me relax. When I cook, I become me.

I also love giving gifts and making things beautiful for others to enjoy. I want to make beautiful and delicious food that people can enjoy and give – whether as appreciation gifts, party treats or to make events special and unique for others.

There is one more reason why I want to start this business. When I was eight years old, I was adopted from DRC, Africa. I never had enough food to eat when I was young in Africa. I am now blessed with enough food every day, a family, a safe place to live and I'm getting an education. Because of how God has blessed me, I want to give back to others in need in Africa.

I want to start an in-home bakery business so that I can do something I love {COOK}, so that others can {ENJOY & GIVE} beautiful and delicious food, so more children and families in Africa can {LIVE} having food, shelter and an education. I plan to give ten percent of my profit to people in DRC, Africa, so they can start their own businesses, support their families, have places to live and go to school.

I have already secured many of the licenses and permits I need to start a small business. I have used my savings to purchase a  domain and buy ingredients to start testing the products I want to sell. 

I am meeting with a logo designer and need $400 to pay for the logo and branding work.  I need $1,000 for further marketing and a website to be designed in April. I also need $300 for insurance and $1,500 for start-up food ingredients and packaging materials.  I hope to launch my business in May 2018.
