Sweeney Todd in Birmingham 2019

We are a group of thespians based in the greater Birmingham area. We do not have a company. We do not have our own venue. But what we do have is a desire to see Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street performed in a way Alabamians have yet to see!

Our cast and crew come from all sorts of backgrounds. If you're local, you may have seen a good number of us performing in other productions, especially if you were one of the lucky ones to get into the sold-out viewings of ACTA theatre's 2018 production of The Addams Family! Well, that kooky, ooky family decided they couldn't get enough of one another, and under the directorial vision of Rachel Wesley, we have come together to give Birmingham another taste of darkness.

So where is the money going? Before we break it down, let us assure you, one way or another, this production is a go! Our own members are funding the brunt of the project. Our presence on GoFundMe is a way to mitigate much of the cost we'll be fronting ourselves, as well as raise additional funds to enhance elements of the show such as costuming, scenery and props. Our performances will be FREE to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis; we do not intend to make a dime off this performance, only FOR this performance, to make it an event to remember.

Now let's talk numbers:

$625 will go towards securing the royalties to the show. We have already applied for the rights to perform and are in our six week process to drum up the dough! THIS is what you're paying towards first and foremost.

After royalties, our biggest expense is our venue. Birmingham Improv Theatre (*BIT - location mentioned below) has graciously agreed to house our performances. We are looking at a flat fee of $500. We will need an additional $400 to pay their technical director and $200 to pay their bartender, who will be offering a wide array of concessions.

$600 will go toward security deposits, $400 to MTI to cover the rental of scripts and sheet music. The additional $200 will go to BIT in case of any damages to their venue.

With royalties and our venue paid off, any additional funds will funnel directly into making the show as beautifully visceral as possible and getting the word out! Better costumes, bigger set pieces, lethal-looking props and that all-around authentic Modern Victorian London feel! We may even be able to put out a podcast or two, or you might hear about us in a radio spot! Who knows!

Through our fundraising process, you can be sure to check back and find updates about our progress. Sneak peeks of how our rehearsals are coming along, get-to-know-us videos about the cast, photos and more! We want you bleeders just as jazzed as we are that the demon barber is coming to OUR town!

Everyone who contributes will have their name honored in either our program or a donor's board in the auditorium.

From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank you for whatever contribution you can make and dearly hope to see your faces in the audience.
