SwampDawgs to Nome

Donation protected
SwampDawg Kennel is a small kennel of 27 dogs located in the community of Talkeetna, Alaska. When I first moved to Alaska 14 years ago from Germany I fell in love with sleddogs and the mushing life style. Working as a handler for an Iditarod musher started my dream of running the race myself. Over the last 14 years I bred and trained a great team of dogs.
The past 4 years I volunteered as a vet tech for the Iditarod Trail Committee at the dropped dog checkpoints. These checkpoints are crucial for mushers and enable them to drop sick or injured dogs safely with the knowledge that they will be taken care of.
I also completed multiple mid distance race between 100 and 300 miles to gain  experience and quality for The Last Great Race.
We are now entered for Iditarod 2018 and I'm excited to experience Alaska and the Iditarod trail behind a dog team that is also family, and in one of the most Alaskan ways.
Donations collected here will go towards dog food, dog jackets, dog booties, travel expenses, veterinary costs, straw for bedding in the cold temperatures and many more things that are needed to get to Nome.
Any donations are most appreciated by everyone on the SwampDawg team.
