Let's Help The Pool

Tax deductible

Remember growing up, you looked forward to that last day of school?  It meant Summer was here.  It meant no early mornings.  It meant no long bus rides.  It meant no homework.

It also meant it was Pool Season!  Every day, that door opened and we all streamed through, picked a spot to leave our stuff on the pad, head to the diving boards and hit the deep end.  We played Blind Man's Bluff, Marco Polo and other games.  The "big kids" showed off their dives, flips and gainers.  Some of the adults still had "skills" they liked to show.

Our friends were there.  We made new friends there.  It brought kids together from across the county and helped unify our community.  And I'm sure that more than one romance both began and ended there...at least for the Summer.

We had the pinball machines and the jukebox that shocked you when you were wet.  We played all the best hits of the day.  It was always a treat to have money for a snack and a drink.  Maybe some popcorn and a Chick-O-Stick.

When the 4-H Camp was in session, they would always bring a couple of busloads of campers for a swim.  And there were opportunities for those less fortunate to get a day at the pool for free.  It was always great to see the looks those kids had and they fun they were having.  The pool was packed, and it was great!

We never concerned ourselves with the day-to-day operation and costs to run the pool.  We didn't think about the cost of a bag of soda ash, a bottle of chlorine or the test kits to ensure the water was safe to be in.  We weren't worried about the filters being clean and the pumps working.  But someone was...

The Pool Association has always been run and operated by volunteers.  The staff is paid, but the heart and soul of the pool is the volunteers.  More often than not, the daily fees or memberships will not cover operating expenses.  Volunteer organizations must rely on donations and fundraisers.

It's with these nostalgic memories and real life needs that we come to you.  "The Pool" needs our help.  The costs to operate and maintain the pool are outpacing the general funding of the Association.

Please take a moment and generously give.  Remember those days you spent at the pool and how great they were.  Let's make sure we can continue to offer the community more great days.
