Poems for Prisoners

Three years ago I felt a pull toward prison work specifically using spoken word to heal hearts and spirits.  I felt that subtle knowing that we all like to ignore.

You know the one I'm talking about. The big call that we beg for and then run screaming from when it actually comes...

It was a big call and I was nervous. 

But this one would not relent. So, I thought I'd satiate it by becoming a mentor at Crossroads Prison Ministry and write letters to those on the inside. It was transforming to read their stories and their prayers, the heart and despair that they pour into these letters. 

And surprise, surprise the big call was not satiated by the small toe I dipped into these waters. I was being called out into the waters in a deeper way...my lovely friend (Martie) the E.D. of Crossroads invited me to bring my poetry into the prison system via my chapbook and to later join her in workshops that help with healing through spoken word and writing. 

So, Here I am standing at the deep end asking for help to do the big dive. 

Will you come alongside me and help in raising the printing costs to send healing words into the prison system.  

We are hoping to bless them with 350 copies of Diamonds by September 2019.
