SV DSA Strike Solidarity Fund!

Donation protected
Union workers at Marriott hotels in San José and other cities across the country have been negotiating for months for a fairer contract. On Thursday, 10/4/18, workers went on strike to demand better wages and secure futures, because #1job should be enough!

Silicon Valley DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) is fundraising to provide support for striking workers. This summer, we voted unanimously to support a possible strike by union hotel workers. Your donations will serve as a material way to show solidarity:

• Meals for striking workers on the picket line, aiming for twice per week. (And groceries for striking workers, if desired.)
• The Working Partnerships hardship fund (Union Community Resources).* This fund, managed by Working Partnerships, is meant to aid workers who face financial consequences for going on strike, and could help workers struggling with mortgage payments, rent, medical bills, or who have children or other dependents.
• Unused funds at the end of the strike will be donated to the Working Partnerships general fund or a different 501c3 nonprofit if designated by a 2/3rds majority vote of the SV DSA membership.

You can also donate your time to San José Marriott workers by joining the picket line, which is ongoing 24/7 outside the San José Marriott, 301 South Market St (next to the convention center) UNTIL WE WIN.

You can find updates about the strike and photos from the picket line on twitter: from us @sv_dsa and of course from @UNITEHERE_19. Please send any questions about the fundraiser to [email redacted]

Labor history shows that STRIKES WORK. Let’s do our part!
