Fundraiser for our sister, Suzy

Firstly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read our message. Family tragedy is inevitable, heartbreaking and sometimes very unexpected. On Sunday, Aug 5, our sister Suzy, suffered a massive stroke. She is only 53. She has had 2 life saving brain surgeries in the past week and is currently in excellent care in ICU in Kelowna, where she lives. It has been very scary and shocking for our family. Not knowing whether she would survive the surgeries. We are blessed to say that she not only survived, but is now responding to her name and squeezing our hand. We know now she is fighting and trying to make her way back to us. She has a long road of recovery ahead: an estimated 6 months minimum in the hospital. But we are still completely in the dark of what is to come in regards to her future abilities. We’ve been told by her doctors that she will have permanent paralysis on her left side, but will be able to have use of her right. This being all we know so far, makes waiting day by day very difficult for the family.

Suzy lives with our mom, Marion, who is 76 and lives on a small pension. Her daughter, our niece Alexis, lives in Coquitlam and has left her job to be with her mom and has committed to being her full time care giver. This is something she’s very knowledgeable in, as her current profession is taking care of people with disabilities. This has left us in a vulnerable situation where we need to reach out and ask for your help. Your generosity will help Alexis afford being able to stay in Kelowna to support her mom. As well as, help with future expenses toward any medical supplies and equipment that she may need once she is out of the hospital... not to mention help with everyday living. Anything helps, no matter how small. If you are able to help in any way, even by sharing and passing this on, it would help more than you know. Thank you so very much from our family to yours.
