I live in a historic watertower in Mendocino,
where I have my studio and small art gallery. After climbing to the top on the day after Thanksgiving to decorate for the Christmas Holidays, I carefully climbed down, and as I stepped from the roof of the yellow building, my studio/kitchen/living space, to the balcony floor,
my left foot slipped out in front of me, and my right foot got caught in the water pipes badly breaking my ankle.
I have to wear a boot for 8 weeks. I’m a Plein air painter, so going out to paint will be impossible. I cannot stand unaided for more than a few seconds now, but I know that will improve over time. This also eliminates my studio painting where I stood at the easel to make my pastels when not painting on location!
The problem is that I cannot go home because of the awkward configuration of steps in/out of bathroom, and no rails around tub/shower. This situation is too unsafe. I can’t get down old metal spiral steps to work gallery
And sell my art to augment my social security and AARP that are just not going to cover the 5 night hospital stay, and ambulance ride 70 miles from Mendocino to Willits!
I'm staying with a busy friend who struggles to cover her expenses monthly, and I need to give her much of what I receive thru this donation fund to ease her stress of having me here, especially over Christmas.
I’m distraught I can’t shop or make gifts for my friends for Christmas, but I can give back. I have many pen and watercolor drawings of my Watertower that I have made over the past 12 years, and for each $50 gift, I will send you one.
Id love to sublet my gallery if someone wants to set up shop for a few months in Mendocino.
