Suzanne and Ken’s motorcycle accident
On Saturday, December 12th my Aunt Suzanne and Uncle Kenny were in a terrible motorcycle accident. Uncle Kenny was unconscious when paramedics arrived, he was then airlifted to the hospital. Aunt Suzanne was taken by ambulance.
Once at the hospital Uncle Kenny was diagnosed with severe concussion and traumatic brain injury. After being in the hospital for a few days he sustained a stroke.
Aunt Suzanne was diagnosed with concussion, road rash, and a humerus fracture. She also has a puncture wound in her left arm and her top teeth and jaw have to be realigned.
Uncle Kenny won’t be able to go back to work until he recovers, which could take months. His short term memory is gone, he has trouble with his speech, and he has already fallen twice in the hospital. He will need a lot of speech/physical therapy to get back to somewhat normal. He was also diagnosed with stage 2 cancer in August and had to use up all of his leave for prostate surgery.
Aunt Suzanne also won’t be able to return to work for a few months, she can’t really do anything with her hands from the road rash and has limited motion of her arm because of the fracture.
Our family has made this GoFundMe page to help offset the numerous medical bills my aunt and uncle will accumulate over the next few months. With them out of work it would also help with living expenses. They will both need support during this difficult time.
