SK is a pleasure based multimedia sanctuary & we believe community is all we need to push through! Up until this point, we've managed to host workshops, create content, host forums, and start an advice column all on little to no budget. However, this is not sustainable for us to continue in this manner. Your donation will help spring board us into the next stage of our work! We're entering a new phase and want to be sure we're equipped with the financial tools to do so. Black pleasure deserves to be funded, and we believe the revolution isn't fully actualized without erotic sovereignty! Your support will help our efforts! We've been rejected from Girl Boss, Three Walls Chicago, Creative Capital, two mutual aid funds; one that is specific to our specific type of work, and the Effing Foundation. Just to name our recent losses artistically and systematically. That is well over 200,000 worth of rejection, 200,000 worth of funds we could have used to sustain our community and continue this work. Our mission is to reduce sexual shame by fostering art and education. We intend to be a health resource and destination that offers a range of media to support health and wellness to be more accessible to the Black queer community. We measure success by creating empowering and ethical content, collaborating with aligned orgs, and access intimacy; providing a spectrum of resources our community needs by catering to our nuances.
We view the Black body as a safe haven; embodying liberation and actualizing erotic sovereignty is our birth right! Our goal of 30K will be a propeller fund to enable us to continue our efforts in a sustainable fashion.
Due to SESTA & FOSTA it's made it incredibly hard to find reputable and reliable sources of funding, we feel, now more than ever, it's important for our community to have spaces that celebrate our Blackness and our bodies. Celebrate our beauty, pleasure, and joy! More importantly, create intimate spaces so we can protect the healing we need on a spiritual, energetic, and somatic level. We want to be a place our community comes to feel good, learn, and work through what stagnates us. We believe joy, intimacy, and empowerment are fundamental!
Please be aware that the small business grants/loans to support business during covid do not apply to us, due to the nature of our work. The applications specifically state on them, "if your work dealing with pleasure (sex) or anything of that affiliation, you can not apply." LET THAT SINK IN!
