Hello and welcome to Susie’s Coats for Kids!
We are dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of children by ensuring they are warm and cozy during the winter months.
Having experienced homelessness as a child gives me the unique perspective of knowing how an impoverished child lives; the results of which can be devastating.
When something as simple as a winter coat is out of their reach, feelings of insecurity, hopelessness and even embarrassment or shame can be so difficult.
That’s what inspired me to start Susie’s Coats for Kids. I want to help as many children as I can feel warm, safe and secure through the cold winter months. A new warm winter coat can provide that sense of safety and security and the hope that tomorrow will be a better day.
Susie’s Coats for Kids directly provides free winter apparel through many social service agencies, Toledo Public, Bowling Green and Woodmore Schools as well as schools in Hancock, Monroe, and Sandusky Counties.
All children served receive a brand-new coat, hat, and gloves to keep them warm. The act of providing face-to-face service markedly differentiates Susie’s Coats for Kids as an outstanding resource for families.
