Hey lovely people!
Eight months ago I decided to completely change my career path and landed a tattooing apprenticeship with Caroline Moody.
An apprenticeship is an unpaid internship that can last up to two years (or longer!) in which you understudy an established tattooer to learn the trade, build skills and client base. It requires a lot of time, energy, and money to get set up. All while maintaining another source of income for living costs. It’s entirely self-motivated.
I’ve received amazing support from my mentor and friends, but have been asked by my non-tattooed loved ones what they can do to help during this transition. There’s nothing wrong with asking for help and I’m not looking to get farther into debt, so here I am!
Recently, I graduated to a new level of apprenticing that required me to quit my third part time job. Tattooing ain’t easy, and it ain’t cheap....The following is a list of my start-up materials:
Tattoo machine(s)
Power supply + power chord
Foot switch
Needles + tubes/cartridges
Inks
Research + reference materials
Drawing supplies
Desk lamp
Station furniture
For those that want to help, I’ve organized gifts for different donation levels...and if you can’t help monetarily, well wishes and verbal support is always welcome!
$5-15: artist sticker
$25-40: sticker + button
$50+ : sticker + button + small original artwork (+ sticker & button)
$100+ : Larger original artwork (+sticker & button)
