I am Kelly Garrett. I graduated with a Masters in Acupuncture in 2016, and became a licensed acupuncturist. Having dreams to live abroad, obtained a job in Australia. As I prepared for my new job, my family received a phone call: my Dad had a rare aggressive cancer. Instead of going to Australia, remained home to help my Mom, Susie Garrett, with the care of my Dad, her husband Bob Garrett, an Air Force Veteran of 6 years. The cancer in combination with Parkinson's he had been experiencing required years of care. Care that was costly. Both for the health of my Mom, and to our finances. That is why we need your help today.

My Mom, has cared for so many throughout her life, offering her home to countless individuals and families while they needed just that for various reasons. From students finishing their teaching degree, foreign exchange students wanting to experience a culture across the globe, to a cousin recently graduated wanting to begin his new life.

There are many reasons for needing a home, and right now my Mom is desperately trying to stay in her home so she can have a place to live. My Mom has always given to others before herself. Trying to get her to say what she wants has been a challenge, yet today amidst our intense stress, Susie said:

"I want to live in my home"

"I am just trying to survive"

We have been struggling with survival for the past 8 years as we gratefully lived through numerous medical issues & procedures (My Dad: Diabetes, Rare aggressive cancer, Parkinson's... & My Mom: retina detachment, stroke, PMR, replaced hip, broken ribs, memory loss, 6 aneurysms, 3 needing surgery...). Yet once Bob, her husband of 57 years, passed away with no life insurance, and we lost his income, life's needs became increasingly more challenging.

Susie worked until the age of 80 when she retired so she could care for her husband Bob ailing with advanced late stage Parkinson's.
