Susan's Guatemalan Mission Launch

Hi! My name is Susan De Pauw and I am a trauma recovery specialist from Georgetown, Texas.  As many of you know, the Lord has called me to serve Him in Guatemala! Here is an update on what has been going on since I left.

On Sept. 7th I travelled to Canilla, Guatemala where I began working with different ministries. After travelling around the country to fulfill other commitments and invitations from various ministries, I have settled back into Canilla and taken the position as Director of Maripositas a school for special needs children where we use creative arts to help the children heal and learn. 

As many of you know who have been following my journey since September through my email and blog posts, I have been using the funds raised here for my living expenses as I travelled around ministering to families with special needs as well as working with organizations that help abused women as I fulfilled obligations around Guatemala and finally discerned the place God was going to settle me permanently.  These funds have also gone to purchase supplies (art, musical instruments, basic school supplies....even food for group meetings) for the groups  that I have worked with as I moved around the country working in Quiche, Zacapa, Panajachel and other locations.  

This final stretch of the campaign will help me with settling in to the new school year in January.  I increased my goal by $500 because I still have to purchase new art supplies for our classes and so will have to do a bit more travelling than expected through the end of January as we work to create first-rate healing programs at the school. 

  Once January ends I will come on board with a formal mission organization to help me manage my support in the field and will no longer be raising funds through this site. 

Thank you to all my friends who have been so generous and so encouraging in their belief of me and the work the Lord has called me to do.  

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity!  Please know that your dollars are going to be  used to share the good news of the Gospel and the love of Jesus Christ with women and children who feel very much alone and abandoned in this world.
