Hello my name is Calvin Lancaster and I am 18 years old. Today I am faced with the difficult task of handling funeral arrangements for my mother. Only 4 years ago I had to do the same for my father.
The Back Story
I grew up as an only child to two loving, caring, and attentive parents. My parent have tried for years to have children and then their prayers were answered. I was the center of their world.
My father was a Sheriff growing up; he was my hero. May 13th, just 10 days after my 14th birthday, my dad dropped me off to school and passed away later that day. The sudden and unexpected loss of my father caused me to end my 8th grade school year without my bestfriend. All I had left was my mother. Both she and I tried to continue life without my father. During the past 4 years, both of us suffered.
Last month, our finances suffered as well and our house was foreclosed on. My mother and I sold what we could part with and we moved into an apartment. Little did I know, my mother's health was also suffering. I quit school to take care of my mother.
The week of Thanksgiving her health issues became too much for me to handle on my own and she was admitted to the hospital, for 2 weeks she was in ICU, she was in a coma and I was left making decisions I knew nothing about. For a few days I got my mother back. She was feisty and would not stop talking. She loved feeling the sunshine on her face from the hospital window.
Unfortunately her body was not strong enough to continue the fight, she passed away leaving me alone. Again I have to make decisions I know very little about.
