SUSAN JANE BROOKS

Susan Jane Brooks passed away peacefully on March 5, 2018 at the age of 51.

We all knew her in different ways but she never failed to make a big impact on our lives. She was a strong, beautiful, pragmatic woman. A fun, caring, thoughtful sister/daughter. A steadfast, sympathetic, loyal friend. A committed, faithful believer.  And -  in the role she considered her greatest calling - a loving, affectionate, and fiercely protective mother.

Susan was deeply proud of her three boys, Cameron, Dylan, and Cade. She wanted nothing more than to see them succeed beyond her wildest dreams. She poured out her life for them, and watched with pride as Cameron and Dylan both graduated into very successful lives and careers. Her youngest son, Cade (15), is almost there: just a few more years of high school and then university.

Susan was fiercely determined to see Cade finish his schooling at Kearsney College and have a chance to follow in his brother Dylan's footsteps and sing in the world-famous Kearsney College Choir.  Cade was honoured to be asked to join the choir in 2016 ; only the second time an 8th-grader has been asked  to join at such a young age. The Kearsney College Choir is world-renowned for its signature blend of classical, pop and indigenous music; accolades include 13 Gold and 6 Silver medals at the World Choir Games over a period of 14 years. In November 2017, they were rated the 12th best choir in the world by the international organization, Interkultur.

Just before his mom died, Cade was selected to perform a solo at the upcoming World Choir Games to be held in Pretoria South Africa in late 2018 Sue almost burst with pride! She would have been in the front row, as she was for all of Cade's performances.

We want to honour Susan by giving her friends, family, and colleagues the opportunity to support Cade's continuing education and membership in the choir, thereby realizing the fulfillment of Susan's dreams and wishes for her beloved boys.

If you feel so inclined, and in lieu of flowers, please consider donating towards Cade's continued education at Kearsney and participation in the Kearsney choir.  Thank you.
