A year ago our friend Susan Weingartner was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer.
While this was devastating news, it should surprise no one that Susan met this new life-challenge with poise and positivity. She was determined to fight for her own life just like she has done as a social justice advocate for the last thirty years.
Susan rolled up her sleeves and did her healthcare homework. For the last year Susan and her medical team have battled the disease with some success, and it is due in no small part to Susan’s attitude and healthy lifestyle.
We have known Susan for years as a famous activist, photographer, event planner, fundraiser, speaker, and ally. Susan has been a champion for chickens, a warrior for the whales, and dogged for dogs in laboratories. She has given her time, talent, resources, and her whole heart.
Most importantly, most of us have known her as a dear and true friend. Her compassion and generosity is legendary.
As friends we must rally when one another is in crisis, trouble, or sick. Susan never hesitated for a minute when I needed her, and you know she has been or would be there for you in a heartbeat.
Susan is someone we love and care about. We need her. She will no doubt meet every turn of this health challenge with gusto, but she should not have to fight alone.
Let’s create a community of conscience. We, as her friends, family, colleagues, clients, and fans can help support Susan. Its not easy asking for help, especially money, so let’s make sure this is never an issue. Skip that Starbucks or ditch dining out this weekend and pledge that money to your friend.

The funds raised will go into an account for Susan in which she can draw upon for the below mentioned expenses in addition to very costly supplements. Kevin set up the bank account for Susan but she is the only one able to access the funds.
