Lt. Chris Sim's is a compassionate member of the first responder community.  His lovely wife Susan has been by his side but she has faced many medical issues over the years.  Here is a FB post Chris wrote about the latest battle.  Please consider donating!  <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/77396753_1704076286591140_r.jpg" alt="Image" width="100%" media_type="3" /> Chris:    As I sit here and go over 2023 in my head I can't help but feel a sense of accomplishment along with some very troubling thoughts. I have been nominated for a The Ronnie Thames Foundation silent hero's award, earned my FAA Part 107 certification and began flying for the Coweta County Drone Response Team serving the citizens and visitors of Coweta County along with supporting our public safety personnel. I picked up my passion for photography and began sharing my work with you all. We made it an entire 11 months with out having to take Susan to the hospital for any need. Then November came and the world fell apart. Susan became very sick on November 26th at 830 am. We were getting ready for church at Callaway Baptist and I was supposed to record the lighting of the nativity scene for the church that evening. I had all my camera gear loaded and packed. Ready to document the entire service. Well God had other plans that morning. Susan became ill so we missed church. However God being all knowing decided to bring the rains and the church had to postpone the lighting of the Nativity. So I was off the hook for a little while. We thought that Susan would bounce back quickly since she was Wonder Woman and I would be available for the rescheduled event. We'll something about cardiac arrest to really take it out of someone. We'll where God Guides God Provides. Guess what? The lighting of the Nativity Scene was not rescheduled. So I have another year to get Susan back on her feet. 

Now for the second topic of reflection. Something about having a catastrophic illness in November. You have already met your out of pocket .maximum on your medical insurance. So they pay everything at 100 percent. This is a very huge load off not having to worry about where you will financially fund the hospital bills. Until the inevitable happens and you require more care than a visit to the ICU. So at 12 midnight tonight our out of pocket maximum begins again. Guess what that means. You gotta pay to play. However remember that saying above? "Where God Guides God Provides". I have full faith that this to shall pass. Thank the Good Lord I work for one of the best employers you could have. I have had the absolute best support from my employer during all this. 

So i sit here beside Susan as she rest so peaceful after her night time meds. She has no idea the importance of tonight. Time is so irrelevant to her. Her time line involves Trach Collar Speaking valve trials. Trach cap trials. Then decannulation and trach removal. So the fact it's new years means nothing to her. Heck even Atlanta is not dropping the peach this year in honor of Susan. When she is better next year they will do it again. 

With all this long-winded reflection I wanted to leave each and everyone of you with this. Hold your loved ones close tonight and remember that we are not promised tomorrow. You life can drastically change in the blink of an eye. Tell your loved one how you feel. Tell your friends how you feel. As you steal away that new years kiss at the stroke of Midnight send up a little prayer for my Love Bucket Angel. I want to wish you all a very Happy New Year.
