Susan and Joshua-Surviving Harvey

Donation protected
Susan-my dearest friend- and her 13 yo son -Joshua found themselves in 8 inches of water on Saturday, August 28th, in their new home in Mont Belvieu, Texas. This little town is due East of Houston, just north of I-10. Their little town bore the brunt of the "dirty" side of the hurricaine. 24 hours of rain delivered upwards of 24 inches. The saturated land and over burdened streams and bayous could handle no more. They were evacuated along with their neighbors. They found themselves in a shelter. She has yet to get home. Her home is a new one-one that has been in the making for years. After a series of job changes and life/family events, Susan and Joshua have lived in 3 apartments in 3 years in 3 different towns. So this little home has been a blessing for them. It has brought them comfort, security and love. Now with the havoc and tragedy that has come with Hurricaine Harvey, it has been upturned once again. Perhaps you can imagine the turmoil for them both. Please consider helping them recover. They will need repair to their home, furnishings, bedding, clothes and vehicle.

I met Susan over 30 years ago during college. We became instant friends. We have weathered many things together-always in support of one another and our families. She is tried and true in my book. She is creative, articulate and can make a mean south Texas spicy anything if you give her some chilis and cumin! She is a God fearing woman and has instilled the virtues of love, kindness and compassion in her son Joshua.

Joshua is the sweetest boy I know- gentle, humble and funny are just a few of the many traits that would describe Joshua. Of course, he LOVES video games (what 13yo boy does not!) and can blast you with a large collection of puns he has written himself. Susan and Joshua are just like you and me.  Simple, hard-working, faithful people. Like us, they have had bumps in the road and recovered and kept on plugging (read: little engine that could). And now, in the wake of Harvey and this devastation,  they need a little push.

God bless each one of you who is reading this.
