As part of the 2017 16 Days Activism Against Domestic Violence, Drama Queens Ghana held a meeting for victims/survivors of sexual violence who were able to meet with psychologists in a safe space where they could share and talk about their experiences without the blame and shame that comes too often with sexual abuse. Especially in this part of the world.
The success of this one-time event made us realize how vital it is to have a place where people who have been through such tragedies can meet, bond, support and help each other. In light of this, Drama Queens will be organizing monthly Survivors Anonymous meetings starting April 2018.
We have been fortunate to have a location which will support our meetings free of charge. There are also moderators and several experts who have offered their services to the cause.
Our organization is powered solely by the efforts of a fully voluntary staff and supported by some grants and funding which are squeezed in order to cover costs of many other Drama Queens projects.
Meeting the target will provide enough funds to support the Survivors Anonymous project for a half year. Doubling it will take us through a full year! The funds will be used to provide refreshments as well as per diems for our speakers and experts. The first meeting will take off on the third Friday of April 2018. We ask that you give as much as you can to give survivors and victims of abuse a safe space that supports them, that is theirs, and that encourages them to be their best in a life after abuse.

Drama Queens is a Feminist, Panafrican non-profit dedicated to changing the status quo, breaking barriers and asserting the rights and existence of the black woman through telling her stories, empowerment and public awareness.
