Survivor to Success: Alexa's Recovery Fund

Hi! I’m Alexa, I’m 29, I live in Missouri, and I was laid off in March because of COVID and am not receiving unemployment due to a paperwork mix up and an ongoing situation with my former employer. I’ve already depleted most of my savings paying bills and covering moving costs and am struggling to stay on top of everything.


I am seeking therapy for c-PTSD, depression, and anxiety due to 15+ years of domestic and sexual violence which hinders my ability to work. My goal is to fund trauma therapy, psych meds, and art therapy supplies as well as fund the cost of my bills while I work towards healing to reach a point in my recovery where I am able to work again. If there are additional funds, I will use them for self defense lessons.

In order to remain as transparent as possible, below is a brief but fairly comprehensive breakdown of the traumatic experiences I am in need of therapy for so I will once again be able to hold down a job in the (hopefully near) future.


•I was physically assaulted and left bruised by my middle school gym teacher who was not reprimanded and retained her job at my school.
•At 15, I was molested by the doctor who did my first ever pelvic exam.
•At 19, a man in his 30’s who was a friend of my friend’s mom repeatedly tried to force himself on me.
•I have been raped or otherwise sexually abused both in public and in private by multiple men since age 21.
•From December 2014-November 2017, I was in a physically, sexually, and financially abusive relationship with a man who GPS tracked me and continues to find ways to harass me and other women who speak to me.
