I Need to Edit My Book. I Am Fighting Cancer~Again

The video explains who Jamie Cummings is and the book I am writing, Inside the Forbidden Outside, along with recording a music soundtrack of original piano improvisations for each chapter as well as music videos you can find on YouTube at Sonni Quick Piano Improv. This music enhances the emotion during the journey just as music accompanies a movie.

The chapters follow Jamie's life through the numerous prisons he was transferred to around Texas. The feedback I have gotten from many people who have experienced even part of what I have written has been overwelming. 

There are so many people and their families who have been affected by this nation's drive to incarcerate as many people as possibly, particularly low income, blacks and minorities and now women. 

The book and music take the reader inside Jamie's head to experience the emotional trauma of living  most of 13 years inside a solitary cell in adseg, administrative segregation. I am 2/3 through the second draft as I have finetuned the story. You can read chapters at mynameisjame.net .

I believe in this book. It will help people see inmates as people, not threats. Too many are locked up compared to the rest of the world for all of them to be dangerous criminals. So many are incarcerated because it is profitable. More people need to be aware that we need to change the system. 

I am on disability I've been through several major health crisis. I  have tried to make the money to hire an editor to go over my story, written from 800 letters Jamie and I have written to each other but I'm barely surviving from month to month.  Many people have been affected by our injustice system. I am asking that those who can - please help me publish my book

It tells the story of what severe deprivation can do to a human mind who greives the loss of everyone he loves. His family pulls away and he seldom hears anything and receives no help to buy even basic necessities. Jamie goes through medical crises caused by inadequate medical care while having epilepsy. You can feel the depth of his depression at not being able to see his only child, born after he was incarcerated, and his loneliness waiting for someone, anyone to visit who rarely ever comes. 

James was paroled two weeks ago, the 6th of June, age 36 with no GED, no work experience, not knowing how to use a computer. He can't drive because of epilepsy. He is smart but has little way to even rent a room.  He is set up to fail but I won't let that happen. I promise I would be there to help him get started. He is the father of one grandson. The sale of this book will help him survive. Half of the profit is his. It is his story, and we will write the sequel together, the story of getting out and reentry into  a hostile society.

In July it was realized the cancer I had been fighting to stop from spreading is determined to continue. I had a serious neck surgery to remove a few dozen lymph nodes but without a good immune system the odds aren't in my favor. It is more important than ever to work as hard as I can to complete this.
