<div>If you know Mary Beth Nelson, you know she’s one of those rare souls who makes the world softer just by being in it. To know her is to feel unconditional love, comfort, and light. She’s spent her whole life taking care of everyone around her — her family, her friends, her students, even people she barely knew. That’s just who she is.

<div>She has this way of making you feel seen and loved no matter what you’re going through. She always shows up with a smile, a hug, or the exact words you need to hear. She’s the kind of person who gives and gives without ever asking for anything in return. And now, heartbreakingly, it’s our turn to show up for her the way she’s always shown up for all of us.

<div>After bravely beating breast cancer in 2021, Mary Beth got the heartbreaking news in December 2024 that it had come back, but this time it was different. She was diagnosed with stage 3 triple negative breast cancer, an aggressive form that led to many more hospital stays, treatments, and endless strength on her part.

<div>On July 4th 2025, she proudly rang the bell, thinking the hardest part was over. However, less than two weeks later, doctors discovered it had spread to her lungs, making it stage 4 and terminal. It has since spread even further, and her time with us has been cut shorter than anyone expected, leaving her family little time to prepare.

<div>Through it all, Mary Beth has stayed strong, gracious, and more worried about her loved ones than herself. Her unwavering faith in God has carried her through the hardest moments, giving her strength, peace, and hope when things have felt impossible. Now, it’s our turn to take care of her and her family, just as she has always cared for everyone else.
