A Father's Battle With Terminal Cancer

Donation protected
My father is loving, sweet, generous man of faith and has spent his whole life helping people all over the world. Four months after his discharge from the Navy he began having intestinal problems. Over 19 years he suffered, for the most part keeping it hidden as he pushed through his career. By 1996 he was diagnosed with Hep C or HCV. No cure and known treatment was available and lead to cirrhosis of the liver in 1998. By 2012 he began having Esophageal Varices; swollen veins. September 2015, my freshman year in high school he bled out from a ruptured vein and was rushed to the ER with little hope of living. God had other plans.  By the mercy of the Lord the VA cured his Hep C in 2017. My family and I were grateful to have my father back and seemingly healthy again. Last July, he was informed of a lesion of hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) confirmed in three different imaging tests. We were informed the 2.5 cm tumor was growing fast and by November 18, 2019 it was 8x9 centimeters and became untreatable. He was given less than 50% mortality rate of 6 months. It was heartbreaking to us all that in 4 months the cancer became untreatable. My father's faith taught us we need to forgive ourselves first, and others before seeking forgiveness. Trust in all things God taught us. The funds will help my mother pay off his medical expenses in residence care, home care, copays and final life expenses expected or unexpected so he can be ready and at peace. My mother is the most hardworking and strong person I have ever met. She cleans 2 to 3 houses a day in order for my brother and I to have food on the table, a roof over our heads, and the best possible life we can have and has been doing so for the past 13 years. My parents have been together for 21 years, since she was 25 years old and for the first time her life he will no longer be by her side. His faith helps us all. I watch him, he is in pain, and he worries he will leave us too quickly. He has spent his whole life in a fight few knew about and he is defeated. Thank you for reading and help me raise funds for a great man, husband, and father.
