Surprise ShadowsProxy to Support His New Dream!

Donation protected
Hi everyone!

My name is Nicole. My partner, Edward, and I have been together for almost six years. In those six years, he's had his share of struggles and heartbreak. From leaving a toxic relationship and still trying to recover when we met, to getting fired from his job due to discrimination, to currently dealing with a rare medical condition that will most likely result in surgery (diagnosis ongoing)...

Well, the man's received his fair share of punches, to say the least.

Yet, throughout it all, he's been my rock. He's supported me through intense depression and self-loathing. He's believed in my writing and my dreams. He's carried me (literally) as we discovered my own chronic disability, most recently choosing to put his dreams on hold to help me purchase a fitness bike to help with my back recovery.

Friends, he is the most selfless, most supportive and kind person I know. I want to help him achieve his dreams, but I cannot do it alone.

You see, ever since we started dating, he's always wanted to be a video game streamer. Yet, he continually talked himself out of it, his struggling with self-confidence stopping him. But, last October, he started a channel and when I say I've never seen him light up the way he does when he's streaming? I'm not exaggerating. He's had a lot of dreams crushed in his life, for various reasons; to the point that he's told me he has none anymore. Yet with streaming, he actually starts to dream again. This dream includes eventually doing it full-time, by creating a community that is passionate and safe, caring and fun, where he gives back more and more than what he gets. You can check out his channel here.

He started building his community by playing one game in particular: Elite Dangerous. However, his computer has stopped being able to run that game. He's had multiple streams that have stopped working because his computer crashes. I want him to have a setup that allows him to chase this new dream. Yet, when we approached the idea of maxing out credit cards to make it happen, he instead decided to put his dream on hold to help me better manage my back disability. Plus, with the looming and uncertain medical journey he's on and pending surgery, the idea of maxing out credit cards for a hobby was one he couldn't stomach--and I can't blame him, as I am still struggling to pay mine off from my own medical issues.

He is so, so selfless, friends. I want to show him he is loved; that we believe in him, we support his dream and that we can raise enough money to allow him to have the setup that will enable him to chase it.

So, that's why I turned to GoFundMe. He doesn't know I'm doing this (he'll be so angry when he finds out; asking for help isn't in his DNA). But, I genuinely believe in him and the community he's already built and will continue to build. I want to support him in ways I cannot financially do on my own.

What will the money raised be used for? It breaks down into two main components:

  • A new gaming PC: It is currently on sale, but there is no deadline on this GoFundMe, so I am budgeting its total price of $2,500. He's assured me that this PC would allow him to play Elite Dangerous once again and be an investment that would help him not need an upgrade for a long, long time.
  • A new chair: sometimes, he'll stream for 4+ hours in a session, and his back will start to hurt. As someone with chronic back problems, I don't want him to deal with that. I have no idea what chair is the best, but I budgeted $500 for a new gaming chair that will hopefully be more supportive.

That is why this totals $3,000. If we were to raise any more than that (!!) it would go to completing any other elements of a streamer setup that my partner is missing that I don't know about (again, I wanted to surprise him with this, so I haven't asked too many details). If he has everything he needs, then we'd split any excess funds into two groups: 50% would be used to pay off our medical debt (which is what we're slowly working on this year), and the other 50% would go to supporting other small streamers who need help.

This was very long, so thank you for reading it all. Also, thank you for any and all considerations, donations and shares. It truly, truly means the world.

Love,
A girlfriend who just wants his dreams to come true
